The word MAJORITY is broken down to the word "major"=
meaning "more than".
WHO THE HECK DECIDED what race is more or less than another??? A hispanic, African-American, Asian, etc. is NO LESS than any other person... AND, a caucasian is NO MORE than any other person. We are ALL EQUAL to each other. I have met many people in my lifetime of ALL RACES ~~ and I can tell you this: "There is good and bad in all races!!!"

back in the days(!) caucasians may have been the majority, BUT WHY DO THEY ~ AND THEY ALONE ~ claim title to "majority". NO OTHER RACE HAS THAT TITLE ~~ even if they are THE MAJORITY ~they are still called the MINORITY!!! get real. this is NOT about numbers ANYMORE

it wasnt based on one group being less a person than another, it was started because of numbers. When they say a certain group is a minority its because they have less people in a place than another group thats the majority. Like here in Texas, hispanics are now the majority & caucasians are the minority b/c there are more hispanics in the state than there are caucasians, it has nothing to do w/ being better than anyone else, its just numbers.

It means numbers of people, not position of worthiness. Whites are the majority in America because they have the most people when you count the population. When you divide the minorities into specific groups (Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc.) all the people in those specific races separate add up to less than the white populace. However, when you combine all the minorities into one specific group (Non-whies) they outnumber the white majority. But we all ARE equal and there IS good and bad in all races like you said. But you read into the words wrong, no reason to take offense.

I absolutely agree with you, those terms denote more than simple numbers. Women, and any race but white are considered minorities. So at the end most people end up being "minorities". Speaking of women, aren't there more women in America than men? So why call them MINORITY. I just don't get it. The only fact that will make you MAJORITY is being male White-American. With these facts do people still think is just a matter of numbers I don't think so.

I think you're thinking in the wrong context of majority and minority. It's not about inferiority such as who is less or more. Majority and minority is in reference to the population in terms of numbers. The census bureau determined the majority and minority based on the race population. In the US, there are more caucasions/whites than any other race. They are the majority. All other race are minority.

The Caucasian race made those decisions about other races to be minorities and tried to kill off those who were different than them but now in the 21st century, the minority is becoming is the Majority!

Non-caucasions were at one time labled minorities, simply because there were more caucasions in the area than any other race. It's a numbers issue, not a 'worth' issue. I don't think the term should be used any more, at least in the area I live in. I think I'm the minority here, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't consider that a negative thing.

You're right - they ARE all equal. I have a Hispanic nephew, have had Iranian friends, the maid of honor in our wedding was a Palestinian from Jordan, and I've known people from all over the world. I agree.
However, the answer to your question lies in numbers: The minority is the group that has fewer members. It has nothing to do with how good or bad they are.

The terms "Majority" and "Minority", with regard to races, refers specifically to numbers. It has nothing whatsoever to do with equality or rights or good and evil.
A minority race would be a race who, in whatever geographic or political region is being assessed, exists in the smallest numbers. A minority religion would be a religion with the lower numbers of practioners.
