Think they did for a brief interlude in one episode. They were being chased by Venger or some description of evil entity, got on a roller coaster I think, and passed through a portal which lead them back into this world. They ended up in a fair ground. As they were being chased, Eric decided it would be a good idea to go to a phone box and 'call the cops.' Then for some reason they went back.
When I was young I used to watch this programme quite religiously. At the time, Venger used to scare the sh*t out of me, but now that I am older and wiser, I really can't take him seriously. I mean, he wears a grey pleated skirt which wouldn't look out of place in a British primary school - hmm, I'm just quaking in my boots!

No, they didn't return home, ill explain. In the cartoon, the series ended suddenly (the reasons can be found online), and no proper ending was given.
In the last written episode, which never aired, they are finally given the choice of returning home or staying in the realm to erradicate the evil that still exists (the menace of Venger ends in that episode). That's how it ends. And in that written episode, they are undecided, and no answer is given (to open doors for a future continuation of the series)
A great cartoon! stopped by censorship. (violence, they claimed)

Yes they did eventually, there were many times that they almost made it home but in the last episode I believe that they all thought it was a dream and then they see something that they all recognized and they all know that what they went through was real. it was a long time ago so I'm not 100% sure but I do remember they finished the ride and could not believe what happened to them.

I thought not.
Great cartoon!
Terrific voice work: Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime); Frank Welker (Megatron); the "Eight Is Enough" boys, Adam Rich and Willie Ames; and Ralph Malph, Donny Most!

Nope am afraid not, they cancelled the series before they had the chance to get home or get defeated. Sorry, we'll never know!

After they beat the bad guy, The Dungeonmaster gives them a choice: they can either go back home, or they can stay and go on more quests. That's how it ends.

I have been wondering about that myself. I was told by a drunken mate that they did but I've never seen it. I know you can buy them on DVD so you could find out that way and get to watch them all again. Yeay!
