In my first wedding I used Royal Blue, Hot Pink, Purple dresses on the girls. The guys wore black and the ties etc were the same color on the girls. My flowers were red roses. My second wedding was at the J.O.P. and I used red, white, and light pink for decorations. If I get married a third time, I'd want red and black or burgundy and black for the guys and girls, and as far as flowers, they'd have to be tulips in any color but blue or purple. I wore white both times. Next time I'd wear a red wedding dress and he'd wear red to match me. We talked about that already. I just hope we do get married lol.

Well, I'm not a wedding planner but I have worked at bridal shops, florists, tv stations and modeled. I have ran beauty pageants and plenty of fashion shows.
What do you mean by mine was black & white?
We need to know more about you and your relationship. When did you meet, start dating, get engaged, etc.? What kind of wedding ideas are you thinking? When do you want to have the wedding? Do you want a big or small wedding?
Post a little more information and I will check back and give you my opinions on colors, fabric, places and flowers, etc.

My friend just had a beautiful wedding that was done in all black and white, except she used a few pink accents. She had pink napkins and little things like that, but the tuxes and bridesmaid dresses were all in black, and the flowers were all white. It looked very nice.
I am undecided about what colors I am going to use. My wedding is going to be very simple, and in Hawaii. Probably very few guests (unless we fly everyone out there lol, doubt that will happen). So I'm just not sure.

Colours can go a long way in creating a mood. Be careful about having too glaring a contrast, and remember some colours can provoke emotional responses in people, including yourself. Read through the links here:
http://desktoppub.about.com/od/choosingcolors/
Colour coordination classically depends upon the colour wheel (explained in this article):
http://desktoppub.about.com/od/howcolorworks/l/aa_colorsee.htm
Try to pick colours that are adjacent to each other on the colour wheel, because that will create an automatic harmony.
http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html
A lot of sites talk about this for weddings. Just google 'color coordination weddings' and you will get many sites, including:
http://www.kfvs12.com/Global/story.asp?S=2955944
http://experts.about.com/q/Weddings-1546/wedding-color-coordination.htm
Their advice seems to revolve around picking one key item to make a statement about who you are or where you are - and then having other things in colours complementing that thing. So you can have the bridesmaids in a certain colour and then have flowers or candles or napkins that pick up on that colour.
In general I would tend towards unusual pastels if you want to create an elegant look. If you go to the site below, you will see how different colours combine well, even though they are not talking about weddings:

Martha Stewart Green like a Sage green I guess and Lavender.
Flowers would have to be a mixture of ivy, lilacs, and purple roses with some wisteria mixed in.

Our bridesmaid gowns were periwinkle - the flowers were cream colored roses and blue. Hmmmmm....I may have to look at wedding pics as I can't remember but I think it was mostly cream and periwinkle.

well, i tend to dream of my wedding in alot of different styles.
for the traditional-y thing, i'd go with blacks, whites, and forest greens. with a beautiful redred rose bouquet with lillies and orchids and all...
for a more tropical theme, swimsuit wedding gown! lol with tons of exotic flowers and foods.
if im into an eclectic thing, i'd mix my 3 favourite cultures: african, indian, and asian (as in the orient). the foods would, of course, be delicious!
i'd have everything with african decor and rituals, indian food, and asian-african inspired dress.
yay!
