Capital Punishment is death. Appeal for clemency is available in many countries where in certain deserving cases the punishment is reduced. hence only when clemency also is not considered(normally by the highest authority of the land), then the crime committed might have been quite cruel method and capital punishment may have to be resorted to.

Capital punishment is when a person is put to death by the state. I have really mixed feelings about it. Some crimes are so hideous, like rape, child molestation, murder that it seems tempting to want to put the perpetrators to death. But on the other hand, I think it is a much stronger form of punishment to sentence the person to life in prison with no chance at all of parole. That person will sit in a little cell for the rest of his (or her) life. Imagine not ever being able to do what we all take for granted: walk on the beach, eat at a restaurant, travel, make new friends, have a great career, make a positive difference in the world. No, that person has nothing more to look forward to except dying in prison. That, to me, is more of a punishment. That person isn't dead, but might as well be because his/her freedom is gone. Putting a person to death might seem like the right answer, but death releases the suspect from ever having to contemplate their crime. Sitting and rotting in prison is a lasting punishment.

Capital punishment is also known as the death sentence. Being for or against the death penalty is not as black and white as most would like to make it.
Someone arguing against the death penalty will probably take the stance that every life is sacred and everyone can be rehabilitated. But those are only truisms for the anti-death-penalty arguer, for all others they are moot points.
Some will argue that there are some crimes so heinous that only the death penalty represents a truly fitting punishment for the crime and only the death penalty can provide the ultimate security against repeat offences which society has a right to expect. But which crimes "make the list" can be moot: is murder worse than theft? Is murder of a police officer worse than murder of a civilian?

Capital punishment is punishment by death, either by electric chair or by lethal injection, usually meted out by the judicial system of a country. There may be other means of executing punishment by death but this is as far as I know.
Personally I am against capital punishment. As in any human system as the judiciary, there is always a possibility that the judgement against the offender or "criminal" may be erroneous. Also, if the country's judicial system is marred by political graft and corruption where "truth" is easily manipulable by power or money, the absoluteness of the offence is debatable and therefore should not be punished by something as permanent as death. Other alternatives can be solitary confinement, etc. but the punishment of death is so terminal that I believe that only the GIVER of life can do that in HIS time.

Capital punishment is a punishment for the most vial of criminals, usually serial murders. Yes, I am for it, because these guys need to pay for their crimes, and spending a lifetime in prision is not the pushiment they deserve.

Capital punishment is a term for when criminals are put to death for crimes they commit - for example, Timothy McVeigh was killed after he was found guilty in the Oklahoma City bombing. Personally, I'm against it.
