My doctor reccommended I take magnesium oxide about a week before my period to help keep migraines related to hormones away. Anyone else taking this? Does it really help?

I take magnesium and calcium as a preventative measure for migraines and it really has helped tremendously.

I am also plagued by migraines and they do seem to be related to hormones. I have had migraines since I was a kid. They aren't as bad or as frequent now that I am in my early forties but when I was in my twenties and thirties they were horrific. I have been to many doctors and tried many remedies, prescription and non prescription alike. No one ever mentioned magnesium oxide, though. However, any port in a storm! I would give it a shot. What have you got to lose? (except your migraine)

I have never taken magnesium oxide. I take an herbal supplement called MiGone Plus that is wonderful. Also helps with the cramps
