When the appliance turns on there is suddenly more electricity being pulled.
Think of the electrical wires in your home as a drinking straw. When a new appliance kicks on it's like a second person drinking from the same straw. Twice as much liquid (electricity) is flowing through the straw.

YOU MUST HAVE A SHORT IN THE WIRING SOMEWHERE....OR AN OVERLOADED CIRCUIT.... FOR EXAM.....IF AN APPLIANCE IS BEING USED ALONG WITH ANOTHER.....WHEN SOMETHING IS ON IT DRAINS THE POWER....THEN WHEN THE CYCLE COMPLETES IT CAUSES A SURGE.....IF ITS DOING THIS ALWAYS....YOU HAVE A FAULTY WIRE SOMEWHERE....
