If it worked before it should still do it. The amount of tunes you have in the Itunes libary and on your iPod will have an impact also. If its the newest models then they search for a lot more than just music an so can take time. Also the connection you use can influence performance. If the iPod does not show 'do not disconnect' on the screen when connected try 'rebooting' the iPod and restart iTunes .. best of luck

try re installing itunes again but make sure your music is safe
this didn't work for mine i had to take it back to the shop and get a replacment.
