Shovling coal out of a basement of an old building with an unused coal furnace. I was around 12 years old and with 3 other friends we shovled coal into pails than hauled the pails up to the street into a dump truck. It took us the whole summer. At the end of the job, the old janitor who hired us refused to give us the full amount promised, so we burnt down the building.

My first job where the government started taking taxes? Or any job?
My first tax-free job was making cash from my dad. It was a sucky job too. I had to sandblast sight parts that he made. Which entailed me wearing a huge mask and gloves in 100 degree heat.
My first job that took out taxes was at KFC. I did everything but cook the chicken. Made biscuits, potatoes, mac n cheese, green beans, baked beans and Chicken Littles. I also took orders, cashiered and did drive-thru ( that was my favorite job =D) and the dreaded dishes ><.

I worked at a small county hospital in the kitchen / cafeteria washing dishes! Thankfully the manager saw potential and a month later I was trained as a salad-maker! Then, after 3 months, a baker, then evening cook, and after 6 months I was made shift supervisor. I stayed 6 years and they paid for 2 years of my college as part of my training. I met some great people and learned a lot - thanks for reminding me of my first job, it was a great trip down memory lane!!!

I grew up on a farm, so I always had some type of work to do. My first job out side of that was a life guard at the city pool.

In high school I worked in the office of a rest home on the weekends answering phones and preparing the time cards for the accountant to add up on Mondays.
Proper knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation were a must.
