Go back with receipt and others tops. Explain it as you did here. You have nothing to lose but time. Good Luck. NOOO don't call the store if the clerk stole it you will warn her. I had that happen with money I was to get.

if you call the store, as soon as you get home THAT DAY, and talk to the manager, and tell them 1 of the tops is missing and that you paid for it, they will look around near the cash register for it, and they usually believe you.
If you don't tell them till the next time you are in the store, they are more likely to doubt you , because time has gone by, people forget, etc.
Given what you said about the assistant taking it off the hanger when all the other tops were left on hangers, i think you should all the store and tell the manager ( make SURE you are talking to the manager) AND write the store, giving as much info as you can, a Xerox of the receipt and a description of the person who took the top off the hanger.
Have i gotten home and not had part of what i paid for ? yes.
has the store found/refunded/replaced what was missing ? usually.
has some treated a garment differently and that garment was missing? that's never happened to me.

it sometimes depends on how the people that work at that store treated u when u were there. I think u should take the receipt and the tops that u already have and find the person who was at the register when u where there and ask her about it. I hope u get ur top back!

Take your receipt back to the store and explain what happened. The worst that can happen is they won't give it to you. Perhaps the clerk realized the mistake and has set the top aside with a note on it for you. It's worth a try, especially if you paid for it.

Call the store first. If the person on the phone gives you any crap, ask to speak to the manager. It's a difficult situation, but unless the sales associate did stash it for herself, someone would have noticed that you left it and the manager would be aware. Most stores are pretty good about stuff like that.

I'd call them right away and let them know what happened. The same thing happened to me once, and they replaced it. Just let them know beforehand, speak to a manager, and bring your receipt in. It is possible that someone noticed it still out, although if the store was busy, probably not. They might be suspicious, but just be honest and they should help!

Go back with your sales slip & explain, nicely what happened. I would bet money, they will give you the top. Most probably, they noticed after you left. If you happened to use a credit card & the store does not honor your request, you can always protest the charges with the credit card company.

Almost all retail outlets have security cameras, which include cameras that look down on the cashiers. Go there as soon as possible, ask to speak to the manager and show him/her the time on the receipt and ask that the footage be checked for verification.
The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be for them to confirm the "mistake."

Call the store. It may have been an accident. Even if you go up there, there is nothing they can do to you if they think you are lying. It's definitely worth a try.

call the store first, tell them what happened. Then go in with your receipt. If they think you are lying, then contact their corporate office.
