My man married a dominican, because she would of had to leave the U.S. He did it for business, this happened 7or 8 years ago before he met me. i want to know if this is technically a legal marriage and is he still married to her. Cause he won't tell me, can anybody give me some info about this stuff.? And if he divorces her does she have to leave the country?

He won't tell you?? What's he hiding?
Doesn't sound good. Hope you're not planning on marrying him.

He doesn't want to tell you cause he is still married. Usually when you ask a man if they are married and they hesitate or they don't answer that means they ARE married. If he likes you he would've told you right away that he wasn't if he wasn't. But if he was he could tell you he wasn't too, because he's a fat liar. But he didn't answer you, so he is married. Or doesn't want you to know because he thinks it's not your business. And if it's not your business then leave.

If he married this woman with a license, he's married. To get out he needs to get a divorce. If it's just business marriage, it should be easy to get a divorce (uncontested). If he's a resident it will take her longer to get her greencard. If he's citizen, within a year. So 7-8 years ago, means she should have at least greencard by now. But the rest she can do herself. She doesn't need your guy anymore. She doesn't have to leave the country if he divorces her. His main role in this marriage if it were to give her the papers was to file a petition on her behalf, whcih he most likely already did. If not, he married her for something else and he likes it. So he controls her by not filing the petition.

Yes, it is legal, .... yes, if he didn't get a real divorce then he's still legally married, no..once married to an American citizen then she is an American.... and yes you're stupid if you buy into this crap. Get your head out of the clouds and take a look at your situation. He won't tell you becasue he doesn't respect you enough to tell you. HE's keeping you in the dark. If he respected you then he would have "truth in advertising"...lay all of the cards on the deck and then talk about those cards.

I would try to find someone (a lawyer would be the best bet) who knows about that particular kind of law, and what a technical marriage is, and if they are married whether or not she'll have to leave the country if they get divorced.

If he won't tell you, why would you consider keeping him around the house? What ELSE isn't he telling you? He has three other women in three other neighborhoods?

To answer your Q, yes, it doesn't matter why you marry someone; love, sex, money, to give them citizenship, etc. etc. They are all legal, if they got a license, no matter why they did it.

Call the INS in your city to see if she will have to leave. I think they can divorce after 7 years and she will still be a citizen.

Yea--I agree with the others. Something is up, and it can't be good for you.

Yes--it's a legal marriage, and whether or not she would have to leave depends on her residency status. Not that it's your concern,,,right?

But if you want to know, you or someone else has to go to the records office in the county where they were married and search for the marriage certificate. You can't trust an on-line search for marriage documents.

By now she should be a US citizen (takes about 2-4 years to get all the crap straightened out). He could easily divorce her and they both could stay. He is probably still in the marriage for finanical gain or some kind of confidence booster.

I think red flags r up on this one.. I'm wondering y he won't tell you. Maybe he's hiding something. If u really want to kno u can find out on your own.The internet can be a deadly weapon if u kno how to use it. All you need is his full name and her real full name (if you know it) and possibly the date they got married, u can also try the public records of your county..

if he married her its legal. if they divorce she can stay. so basically if he is still married to her its cuz he wants to be not cuz he has to be. dont waist time with people who lie about anything. demand the truth if he is hesitant move on. life is too short to play games.

Ask your husband these questions and trust his answers. If you don't trust his answers then you have a bigger problem than business marriage which is trust or lack of it
