No. Since the term "emo" did not even exist when The Cure was formed it can not be an "emo" band. However, if your friends are going to continue calling it such, then I must say, that is such an "emo" thing for them to do.......Cheers!

The Cure is Goth.
They predate the hell out of EMO.
EMO is more these pseudo-pop-punk squealing whiners like Simple Plan who cry about their dads with shag haircuts and crawl around on floors in sweaters.
