How can you not have time to read just two 300 page books? How much time do you have to read them? Anyway, if you haven't gotten the letter, obviously it doesn't apply to you. They can't fail you because you didn't get a letter.
Normally what they would do in a situation where school starts before the school is finished is they will send you to a make-shift school or distribute students evenly among other area schools. Once your school is finished then you will begin attending school at your regular building.

You or your parents should call the school district (the number is in the phone book) and find out what their plan is for students going to that school. Also, ask about the reading list. You might very well have to read a couple of books, that's common in the higher grades, but I really don't think they would threaten students with failure!

Call up the school district.
Maybe your letter from the school got lost, it happen one time with my son. I sent him to school without signing anything prior.
Are you saying that you need to read the book for summer?
If you are, you better find out the names of the books and start reading.
If they screwed up, you will still be responsible sorry to say.
That's real life, it may not be your fault, but you will still have to pay for it. Good luck,

it dosen't take long to read them. trust me i thought it did and it didn't just readd the book for 2 hours and you'll be almost finshed. so don't worry at all you will be fine and you really should think if it's extra credit or not. mine was and i didn't read it and i passed so good luck in school!
