Six,maybe 7 in the Senate.
Plus 5 or 6 in the House.
It's looking good.People are fed up with tried-and-failed reactionary nonsense.

The Democrats will probably pick up 1 or 2 seats in the Senate. Only one-third of those seats are up for re-election at any single time, so out of 33 elections... maybe 1 or 2 will switch hands.
In the House, the Democrats can expect a little improvement... maybe 4 or 5 seats.
Governorships... maybe 1. They, like the Senate, don't all run the same year. And they have a very high tendency to just stick with incumbents barring scandal.
A lot of this comes down to local politics. If a state has had issues, then a new person may be pulled in just because people want change. Take Louisiana, for instance. Would the people be interested in a Republican governor just due to backlash against the incumbent over Katrina? Or will they assess blame federally instead of locally?
One thing is certain though. Drastic, sweeping change is very unlikely. Historically, changes to the makeup of the Senate or House are very incremental, and that's not likely to change in the near future.

The need 6 of the 15 open race Republican seats & to maintain all their seats at same time. It will be a close race. We will see
The will need to pick up an extra 15 Congressional seats.
9 govenor's races are up for grabs, some have been the same for decades. It really makes no difference to Govenor's, their state power rarely helps nationally.
The Democrats confidence to pull this off is sure, the Republicans are just as sure it is too great a task to accomplish.
I do not think that kind of gains have ever occured before.

I'm not sure if there is any real democrats anymore.
Even Clinton sold out to the Military Industrial Complex. In Fact Clinton with his Redpublican "Telecom Give Away", NAFTA and GATT legislature was the most effective Redpublican ever.
Democrats are like Knights on horseback. They existed way back in history and their live was mostly romanticized in fiction.
In actuality they were miserable lonely guys sleeping with a horse.

I think the democrats will loose three senate seats, and loose seven house seats. I think they will gain four governorships, however.
