Poetry, in my opinion, doesn't mean anything to anyone other than the person who wrote it! All others just think they grasp the concept of someone elses poetry to pretend how "deep" they are, lol... it's actually kind of funny.

Poetry can convey wisdom -

"A stitch in time

Saves nine."

can be instructive -

"Candy is dandy

But liquor is quicker"

and can even provide financial advice -

"Stretch each dollar

'Til you hear it holler."

Besides that, it keeps bookish people in libraries where they don't interfere with the rest of us.
