Does anyone have any good suggestions for a pop song for my band to cover? We want something well known enough for us to make it our own style without rendering the song unrecognisable, if that makes sense. We're quite a punky guitar band with a female singer. Some thing quite upbeat from the 1980s would be good. We thought of Kylie, but it's been done to death. Any other ideas?

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves is the most upbeat pop song of the 1980s.

99 Luftballoon is a great song, but it's already a punk song. It's about idiot generals starting World War III. But the audience, especially if they're MTV junkies, would love it.

Madonna "Ray of Light," although there are some other songs of hers that would work too.

Female artists like Blondie ("Heart of Glass"), the Go-Go's (Our Lips are Sealed), Cyndi Lauper ("Girls Just Wanna Have Fun") are also some good choices.

Crazy by Beyonce but change the lyrics from looking so crazy to chewing a daisy.

Or Roxette's It must have been love, but instead of it's over now, it's clover now.
