I replaced the pads on my 01 mustang yesterday, but one of the rotors is definately warped. I'm going to go buy a rotor, do i need to do both? Limited funds this week, so I'd like to know if its necessary. Thanks!

Not necessarily, but the thing is, you have put new pads on a bad rotor. It may be best to wait until you can buy or have all of the parts available to replace at the same time. This will help to maximize the life of your replacement rotors. Even if you decide to only replace the one bad rotor, I recommend that you replace both side brake pads again at that time. Pay close attention to the condition of your front pads until the replacement can be done. DON"T continue to drive if there is excessive noise from the brakes or under any low pedal conditions. Otherwise you can wait awhile to do this, just don't push your luck.

Theres no need to replace the other rotor as long as it's in spec but it is a good idea to get it turned so there will be even wear on both rotors. sometimes replacing one rotor and not turning the other rotor will lead to fast breakdown of the older rotor and pads n that side.Geting it turned can run maybe 15 bucks at the most.....

No you don't have to change them both at the same time but it usually is a good idea. And with money being a problem I would replace the worst rotor first and within a week or two replace the other one or have them both turned if they are salvageable you can usually have both of them done for less than you would spend on 1 new one

If they are the original 01 rotors, I would change both. Don't know how many miles you've done 50,000+ maybe ?

I drive a 99 Corvette & if I replace a worn part (tire, pad rotor, etc) on one wheel, I always change both sides at the same time ($600 for a pare of tires is painful, though).

If the good rotor has enough metal to be turned, you can hold off replacing it IN THE SHORT TERM. You will have pulling problems when you brake though. Replace it as soon as you possibly can.

You don't have to unless both are worn. It's best to have both of them replaced at the same time but not nescessary. I'd replace the one that shows wear, and when you get the funds, replace the other.

If your rotors are wearing uneven it might be a problem with ALIGNMENT or Struts...
It is best to do them at the same time...but will be OK until you can afford the next side, I would then check your align. and struts.

As long as the other rotor is in specifications and is machined (turned) then you should be fine.

I would have them both turned down, it is cheaper than replacing them. You don't have to change them at the same time, but it is a good idea.
