Best suggestion is to rent an old movie from the 50s -- some of the old Frank Sinatra or Gene Kelly movies -- because they have jitterbug scenes in them. It's a little hard to describe if you haven't seen it, but basically it's a partner dance, where the boy twirls the girl towards him and away from him, she slides between his legs, then he boosts her into the air, she does a side jump and lands on one knee, he boosts her into the air and she lands on his other knee, then they go back into dance position and do a few steps together before starting a new series of stunts. Almost every guy had his 'signature' step, and a gal had to really be on her toes to follow some of these routines! But they certainly were fun. You'll need music like "The Jersey Bounce" -- and of course, there were the slow waltzes we loved, like Glen Miller's Moonlight Serenade. (sigh!)
Enjoy your party -- wish I was there!

It's the same as swing dancing. You can probably rent a film from the 40's that will show you how to do it.
