Alright, I was watching the news and there was a guy in Canada who did this research that says that homosexuality was a genetic defect.
You see it more in youngest male children of a family with more than one boy.. than in any other group. Basically, it says it is the mother's fault. In her womb.. you change from a female fetus to a male fetus if you're going to be a boy.. and if you're a homosexual it was because your mother didn't allow your growing , maturing fetus enough testosterone..
Same thing with females. ( only decrease in estrogen)
I'm not saying I believe it, but it's certainly something to think about. What do you think?

I have many gay friends and have observed (unscientifically) traits that appear in many of them. Many of them have had VERY different backgrounds, upbringings and environments. Many are from differnt cultures, yet they have many of the same characteristics. Being open minded I would not be surprised if science provided evidence to show that there was a fundamental genetic trait that they all shared. Logically that would seem to make sense.
The real question is then, "How do we prove or disprove this new hypothisis?"
Fabulous!

Wow you are completely misrepresenting this study.
There is NOTHING in that study to suggest that being gay was a genetic defect. It suggested that there might be a genetic component. Is having blue eyes a genetic defect? Is having white skin a genetic defect? Do you have any idea how incredibly insulting it is to be called a genetic defect by someone who obviously doesn't know jack sh*t about genetics? And I'm not even going to touch the second paragraph there, it is scientifically innaccurate and insulting all rolled into one.
Here is an idea, THINK before you write something stupid. KNOW about a subject before you use it to insult an entire group of people.

what you describe is NOT genetic, therefore would not show up on a DNA scan. Hormone influence in the womb does not change the genes.
I can eat a lot and gain weight, or diet and lose weight, but genetically, I'm the same either way.
and the word "defect" is of course insulting. I'm just fine, what with being gay and all.

This guy was soapboxing. There is no evidence whatsoever that male homosexuality is a result of too little male hormone. There IS evidence, however, that it MAY be a result of too much male hormone, overmasculinizing certain areas of the hippocampus during early fetal development. For instance, Nature 404, 455 - 456 (2000) Terrance Williams et al. show that secondary indicators of exposure to male hormones, in this case finger length, suggest that male homosexuality could be ENCOURAGED but not DETERMINED by exposure to MORE male androgen in the womb.
So yes, our suspicions are correct, we are hyper-men.
And in any case, learn the difference between genetic "defect" and genetic "variation." By your biased definition all eye colors other than brown, white people, left-handedness, appendix size, number of wisdom teeth, and a whole other host of "variations" are actually "defects."
No one really knows. Critics whine that a direct genetic marker for homosexuality has not been identified. Of course, point out that no genetic cause for heterosexuality has been discovered, and they pee themselves.

Ok so its the moms fault. Yeah it is true that we r all born female n as we develop we will see more if u will b a girl r boy. BUT.... n it aint ya moms fault. She has no idea what is going on in her body except the fact that she carryn another human being in her that will soon come into this world. Ur mom didnt allow u 2 grow uh whatever. Dont put this on the mother (whoever that guy is).
I dunno why people r gay.Mayb they r gay because they have been raped by the same sex n didnt oppress that hurt yet. Mayb they r confused. Hell only they them n God know.
What I do believe is that many people have been around r grew up around gay people.Boys were raised around only women n r not gay (my boyfriend).Girls who grew up around many men r not gay. N a girl I read about had been raised by 2 women n was around that gay lifestyle n was not gay. She loved men. She didnt let their lifestyle influence her. She said if she was gay it wouldnt b because of them. She is straight n that is all 2 it n she loves here 2 moms. In the bible it does say he destroyed sodom n galorra ( i know i spelled that wrong , lol) because of their acts but hey homosexuals mayb sinning but so is everybody. No sin is bigger than another. Let them b them. Only God can n will judge them. Not us. We have no right 2 judge. So back off the homosexuals. Let them b hypocrites. U aint right just like they aint right.

all these scientists think that all traits including homosexuality is written in a person's DNA. I think that they need a new hobby. The only thing that I agree with is that a person is born gay but it is the farthest thing from a genetic disorder.

Yada, Yada, Yada.
All this puts me in mind of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World where, depending on how the foetus in the jar is chemically treated, you get your Alphas, Betas...Epsilon Semi-morons
Well, paraphrasing from the same book:
"Im a bi-male. I'm glad I'm a bi-male. I wouldn't want to be a straight male..."

I think I'm tired of studies trying to explain gayness as if it's a disease, rather than just another way to love. We need to look more at effects on lives, not causes. After all, we all know that race is genetic, and that hasn't solved racism.

Yes, these type of studies are becoming more common. It is becoming more clear that being gay is not a CHOICE. That we are born this way.
One more thing. It is not a birth "defect". It is just the genetic pattern that we are given. I an no defect, just me.
