They are black in colour, very small and thin. They wll eventually die off naturally. Only way to keep them from getting indoors is by keeping the windows and doors closed. They will vanish overnight once the corn is cut, but they are in profusion this year it must be the dry spell along the heat. They itch like mad if then get onto the skin.

Good luck!

Corn Fly

Adult corn flies look almost exactly like sweat bees. The uninitiated can't tell them apart, unless they're sitting side by side. They are not black, they're golden, and with dark rings around the abdomen. I live where we're surrounded by thousands of acres of corn every other year, with soybeans in alternate years, and this year we are swarmed with corn flies. We have, in fact, had to crop dust the corn this year. First time in more than twenty years that we've had to do this.

The green flies are blow flies. They make the maggots. Put some sugar or corn syrup and a little sweet soda drink in a jar and make holes in the lid. Water in zip up plastic bags with holes below the seals and hung up will confuse the flies. Some people put shiny pennies in the bags. These are good to put by the doors out side and on porches. In side if you want to. Hang old cds.

They look like what they are small flies, I used to live in the country and we got them every year, they are corn flies. I got rid of them by spraying Dettol spray and after two days they were gone and never came back. Spray on your kitchen tops and any surface that a fly can land on. good luck.
