To answer your question, an a/c unit that is too large for a given area will "short-cycle", or resolve to the desired temperature before it has a chance to remove the excess relative humidity. This generally occurs in systems that are grossly oversized, and yours is far from that. You might have a bit of additional capacity, but there will be times when you need it. Let 'er rip, and fear not!

10000 btu cooling capacity is about 490 sq ft.

If it's too big, you'll get a lot of cold air and higher electric bills.

I'd use it, you may not have to set it as high.

You can use the unit but raise the thermostat on a higher setting, otherwise you can freeze yourself out of the room. This way you can control a comfort level of the room that you and your family like.
