Hi. Whats happening is that my computer seems to be infected with a virus. I might have downloaded, or have been uploaded with something that is saying there is spyware on my computer and that I must download several software programs they are selling to rid myself of the problem. To me this seems like a gimmick. Perhaps the program company created this virus as a loop to make money. It is very frustrating. Is there a way to rid my computer of these errors? I am constantly getting pop ups and other warnings. Even my browser has shut down as I have been typing this question. I am wondering if maybe i went out and bought Norton or Mcafee products for virus protection?? What to do? If you were wondering, I am currently not using any type of virus protection. HELP!

Best thing to do is go and download some anti-spyware software like Spybot Search and Destory or Ad-aware (or both! They are free) and run them several times to see if they can clear the problem. Also, you should try running your anti virus software too. If you don't have any anti-virus software, Avast! is a good free one you could try.

Ad-aware: http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

If you have spyware, there is a free program called Lavasoft Ad-aware SE personal who might help you getting rid of downloaded ad-ware, spyware, dialing programs, etc. Those files can slow down your computer to the point of a crash down.
You definitely need to get a security program like Norton or MacAffee at least with a 36 months subscription, they block advertisements and protect your computer from malicious software AND use the Lavasoft ad-aware to clean your computer of tracking cookies and data miners at least once a week.
