Peter, James and John have gone to a Hotel for the night, each one slept in a diferent room which each room costed them £10 each, the total was £30 for that night. They paid the bill in full and went to their room, because they always use the same Hotel, and the Manager is Peter's friend the manager gave them £5 off the total amount so they were supposed to pay only £25 for the night. The manager got £5 and give to the receptionist and told him to give the money back to them, He did exactly what he was told to do ... but he thought ... Well £5 will be impossible to be divided in 3 ( Peter, James and John) I will keep £2 and give them £3 so he did, with £3 the room cost them £9 per night ... so £9 times 3 (Peter, james and John) equals to £27 plus £2 ( that the receptionist stole) £29 .... Where has the £1 Gone????
Good Lucky!!!!!!!!!!

Go learn basic accountancy. You will learn your £1 has not gone anywhere. You added it up wrong.

Peter James and John liked the hotel so much they go back there again. Again the going rate for the room is £10, giving a total of £30 for the night. This time the manager is so pleased that they have come back so soon he tells the receptionist to give them £7 discount. The receptionist reasons that £7 won't split three ways and they were happy to pay £9 before so would probably be happy with the same discount again. So he puts £4 in his pocket and gives then each a £1 back. The three of then have therefore each paid £9 making a total of £27. Add the £4 in the receptionist's pocket and you get £31 and there is the missing pound!

what missing pound?

the guests pay £9 each making a total of £27 for the night, but the manager only sees £25 as he refuded £5 of the original £30 to the guests. Of course, the receptionist gets the sack for being a thieving goit when the manager chats to his mates & he realises that the light fingered clerk is ripping him off!!!

got any more?

Well, they paid, altogether, £30. They were only supposed to pay £25, so the guy gives them back £5.

Now, they only get £3 back, which means they've pain £27, but take off the £2 the kid took and you've got £25.

they paid £28 quid for the room as the recpetionist took £2.

£3 was returned to them off the £30 so that makes £28.

The receptionist got his sums wrong he shoudl have kept £3 then it would have cost £9 per person

I stole it, I was working there at the time as a bell boy, I snuck in whilst they were getting ready to go out, and took it from on top of the trouser press.
