The points don't "get" you anything, just some satisfaction in helping people.

You get "nothing" in return.
Just consider it a game having no tangible reward or payoff.
Except perhaps the very real possiblility and the satisfaction in
knowing that one or more of your answers was given to someone who, among these many other lost and forelorn members, has been helped by improving their personal or mental health or relationship status.
