In an all out brawl between

A Centipede (Scolopendra heros)

A Desert Hairy Scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis)

A Desert Tarantula (Aphonopelma chalcodes)

All three are common to the south western United States. This is not some stupid question, I want to see if you know which of the three would win if they all were to fight, Im looking for an answer than incorporates all of their abilities and natural defences. This could be more of an ethological question rather than brutality.

The centipede has some of the most powerful venom in the invertebrate world, and has the equipment to push its "fangs" into either scorpion or spider. Armor is also pretty impressive.

The scorpion can get pretty large, and it can deliver a nasty sting. However, it claws are not that powerful, even in a large specimen, compared to the centipede, and probably cannot grip the centipede. Its body plating is also as tough as the centipede's.

The tarantula has massive fangs, but nothing else in its arsenal can compare with either scorpion or centipede.

Considering all of these, the tarantula would fall first. The centipede would duke it out with the scorpion until one gets a good hit. I'm thinking that in most cases, assuming equally-sized opponents, the centipede would win since almost all scorpions clasp with their pincers before they sting, whereas centipedes clasp and inject venom at the same time.

In the wild, though, the centipede is usually the largest of the three. In that case, size matters. Centipede hands down.

The tarantula can say his prayers he has relativly week venom no armor a soft body he does not stand a chance.
Between the scorpion and centipede it would be farely close. The centipede is faster and more adjile but he has a long body to wory about. To his advantage is a very powerful venom and the fact that he is on the skiny side and with the way he moves he could provide a dificult target for the scorpion. Both of them are even on body armor so that does not play a major role.
The scorpions venom is not as powerful but he does have pinchers. With things left like this the centepede would win but the scorpion may have a secret wepon. Scorpions have special antibodies making them imune to some poisons (such as other scorpions) I do not no this for shure but i think this will provide them some protection against the centepedes venom and might let the scorpion win. But those antibodies are its only hope.

Between the scorpion and tarantula, the scorpion wins hands down. I know of someone who kept the two together and one day they came in to see bits of tarantula scattered ALL over, and a very content scorpion sitting in the center :-)

As for scorpion v. centipede, it's really a toss-up. It'd probably come down to size on that one... and who could overpower their opponent quicker.

i believe the centipede would come out the winner cuz they're known to go after all types of arachnids as meals of the day. even the ominous-looking ones, like that scorpion & tarantula cuz centipedes can wrap around & constrict their victim with their long body & at the same time inject toxins into the victim's body
