Let me see, everyone heard that the president has lied,

and

A 100,000 person volunteer military continues to show up to accomplish the mission. Seems the peace keepers on the ground have a much different view of what's important then the press. They believe they are making Iraq a better place, they are working their ass off to do it.

And the scared mommies and the non-volunteer's remaining at home are NOT being fed the ACCOMPLISHMENT of the military.

Then some PUNK kids that don't know crap ask questions like this. I think these questions come from pampered Sissy's that would be to scarred to put their life on the line for anything. Hence all war is bad (keeps you safe at home with mommy looking over you)

Get a REAL education, join and go to IRAQ or Afghanistan and see what is really HAPPENING. Be a MORAL citizen of the world and put your butt on the line to make the world a better place.

This is more than a moral question is it also a legal question.

As a solider you are not a free person... The poem says it best:

Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:

But that was 1854, we live in a different time now.

Current international law (which the US refused to sign) states that a solider following illegal orders is guilty of the crime they commit while under orders.

So in today's army you can go to jail for NOT following orders (IE not showing up to work)

But you can also go to jail for FOLLOWING orders (IE being a prison guard)

Since we are in an ALL volunteer army it would be very hard to prove that you are a conscience objector since you wouldn't have joined in the first place if you think ALL war is wrong

EITHER WAY if you are in the army in 2006 make sure you have a good lawyer that knows your name.

Perhaps if you were a truly moral person you wouldn't go to War. Why is it OK to kill people if you're government tells you to do so but not OK to kill people otherwise, except in specific circumstances? Governments always lie about why wars are necessary so maybe we shouldn't fight in them. Isn't it true that the people you fight against have been told by their Government that they are right? With terrorist there are different considerations but if everybody agreed that killing was wrong then we would have to work out our problems without war - now that would be a challenge!

That's a hard question to answer, I will die for my country or my god, sometimes even if you leaders lies you have little recourse, but I would hope we as a people could make it right.

Same thing that the protagonist of "All Quiet On The Western Front" did: Fight for my COUNTRY, not for the U.S. president.
