In the past, hurricanes were only given female names. That changed in 1979 when male names were added to the list. My source says that made women libbers very happy.

Years ago, it was only female names. I guess some group objected to storms causing so many deaths and so much destruction being considered female. So, now they alternate, every other named storm is female, same with male.

One year the even letters are male and odd are female.
The next year, vice versa.
The names are already picked out for, like, the next 6 or 7 years.

last year was female so this year should be male names

they alternate the names if I'm not mistaken, A-Z and Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl, etc. I believe
