Only if they visit other countries that have absolutely nothing. Then, they might be able to comprehend their own situation and how incredibly lucky they are to have even the basics, such as running water, electricity, housing, food, etc.
Talk to any American that has visited Cuba, and you will notice that it ended up being a humbling experience for most of them. Now, talk to some that have gone to South Africa, Ethiopia, or Rwanda. And you will see a pattern. They come back with a different view of their home life and how incredibly lucky they are compared to others, who don't have nothing, they have to scrounge around just to survive.
And their only meagre possesion is a bowl.
The ones that don't realize, are missing out on life experiences.

I don't think we are spoiled or lazy. Think about it this way, the minority(rich) control everything and use the media to put out hidden messages that make you think that if you don't work hard you're lazy. They benefit from the majorities(americans) labor, gain profits and keep control of the country. Honestly, if you make 13$ an hour, that's still not enough because everything you need to live a nice life has a monthly charge, and who gains from these monthly charges, that's right not you. It is hard enough for a couple to make it, but when they have a kid, it becomes even harder, and the media still throws laziness at you to make you feel like you need to work harder to make the rich richer and keep the poor poorer.

I believe we realize it and we get angry when someone tells us it's wrong. Just like the people on this board get angry when someone tells them that they are doing something that's morally wrong. They don't listen and think that maybe they should stop doing what's wrong. They get angry at the person showing them.

So, Americans have an epidemic of obesity in adults and in children. Americans have an epidemic of depressive illness, mental and physical. Americans have an epidemic of single mothers, murdered children, children used for pornography and sex slaves. But I guess we'll continue all of that until we can actually accept that we are fat, lazy, and spoiled, and find the desire to admit our sins, ask for forgiveness, and get our nation back on track with God.

If you look at that website, and click on "Foster Care Report Card" showing evidence of parents not teaching their children that having sex before marriage is just plain wrong. Why don't they teach their children? Because the parents of those children do not want to admit that THEY are wrong and have no desire to teach their children any better.

Colorado State Profile State population 4,301,261

Child population 1,100,795; White 71% ;African American 4% ; Hispanic 21%; Asian 3%

Children below poverty 176,127 16% - Under 5 below poverty 46,514 16%

Births to unmarried women White 7,297 17% ; African American 1,493 51% ; Hispanic 7,126 39% ;

Single parent families 24%

As soon as we can stop putting our selfishness and "play time" ahead of solid moral responsibility, then we may be able to start being NOT so fat, lazy, and spoiled.

As a granny I know we are a very spoiled people and obesity is higher in this nation than any other - it is - in fact - an actual disability according to the gov't. You can file for disability based on obsecity! Lazy - most definately - most products being made today are for 'busy' or otherwise lazy people - all these new and improved and quick and easy products - push a button or just stand on the stairs - they'll do it all for you - very sad but yes - its very true! Those 'programmed' to the lifestyle of today - will find it very hard to survive and get by - whe the time comes for survival of the fittest !! (and smartest) !

Media, government, the education system being unbalanced between mind and body, the fast food/paced lifestyle, and the current onslaught of monetary priorities coupled with spoiled big business ethics all contribute to what you mention.

We need leaders that understand that quality of life outweighs Gross National Product.

Until then the answer is no. It is a matter of physics; you can’t have a fit body and mind and regularly eat double cheeseburgers with biggie fries after having been dropped off at a day care for most of your childhood so that your parents could afford a more affluent lifestyle….respectively speaking.

I think "us" Americans need to learn English. As far as being spoiled and lazy I can't answer that. I know I work hard for everything I have and thank God every day that I live in a country that allows me to do that.

I'm hoping eventually, men will not be attracted to fat chicks anymore and they will go the way of the dinosaur. It will then be up to the rest of us to stay in shape and healthy! There is no excuse for fat (albeit health reaons) but come on... if you tell someone that they look good even though they're overweight, you are wrong and causing more harm than good!

What's with this "us" bit? You don't sound like an American to me! I bust my a## at work, plus it takes me over an hour to travel there. Over 1/3 of my income goes towards taxes. I can barely make my bills. So what do you mean spoiled? Everything I have I've worked for - so don't lump me in your stupid category.
