A lion and tiger can breed but it is very rare in nature. Usually, it only occurs if humans have something to do with it. The offspring would be called a liger or a tigon. The liger is a cross (a hybrid) between a male lion and a female tiger. The Tigon is the result of breeding a male Tiger to a female Lion.

THere is a picture somewhere on the internet of a "liger" which is a lion bred with a tiger, I'm just not sure where it is. Try searching for it on yahoo, you may find it.

yes surely the lion and tiger can interbreed with each other.This is due to the dna recombinant tecnique which is developed recently.THE NEWLY FORMED SPECIES IS CALLED "TIGON".
