A couple of folks are obsessed with water.

Urban legend. Old wives' tale. Not true.

First answer was dead on! Especially about the water! People think about the fiber but not enough about the water. If you are constipated you should aim for drinking more than one gallon of water per day and continue this until you become regular. Also make a special time in the day where you can go to the bathroom (make sure you can go at the same exact time every day). If you are petite put a foot stool in front of the toilet so you can be comfortable and take a magazine or book to the bathroom with you. Make it a goal to sit on the toilet at least 15 minutes. This will help get your body in the habit of going everyday. Even if you don't have a bowel movement at least your body is understanding there is a certain time for this. :D Good Luck

Have you tried increasing the fiber in your diet and drinking more water. You also need to ensure that things are "moving" along in your digestive tract (peristalsis). Some people have very slow moving intestines, and there are meds out there to promote better peristalsis. The longer contents sit in the large intestine, more water is removed and the harder the stool. Conversely, if not enough water is removed in the large intestine you suffer from diarrhea. It's also recommended in addition to the increased fiber in your diet to eat active cultured yogurt (like Activa) daily. The good bacteria flora in active cultured yogurt helps to promote normal peristalsis. Hope this helps.

Causes of contipation are: some prescription and non prescription drugs, lack of fiber in the diet, not drinking your eight glasses of H2O daily, not getting enough exercise, to name a few. Try prunes!

You have to make sure you're getting enough fiber (whole grains, beans, fruits, vegetables) and also enough water to help the fiber move through your intestines.

Could be alot of things. Too much fat in your diet and not enough fiber. Could be lactose intolerant. You need to see a doctor if it is happening frequently.

Fiber tablets help me when it's really bad. Otherwise you can try apples, coffee, dried fruit...just to name a few.

Good luck, it's not fun!
