Having said this can anyone respond with some of the actual lasting good that this individual has done for the country?

The economy? ... Reagan started it and he rode in on the Wave of the results..did he do "anything meaningful and lasting" after the attack on the USS Cole with regard to terror etc etc etc.?

In his first year in office, Clinton passed a national service program of tax increases and spending cuts to reduce the federal deficit. (Unoppossed!)
In 1994 he withdrew U.S. forces from Somalia where our our soldiers were being killed in a vain attempt to avert famine and war.
There was the Yugoslavia peace agreement in late 1995.
He also restored U.S. diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1995. (Getting our POW's and their remains in the process)
The welfare bill that he signed at the end of his term revolutionized the system, requiring that people getting it GET A JOB to get welfare.
He was the first Democratic president since Franklin Roosevelt to win two terms.
1997, Clinton produced the first balanced federal budget in three decades.
He set aside more than three million acres of land in wilderness or national monuments, protecting more acreage than any other president.
He enjoyed popularity throughout his entire presidency, despite the scandal and the acquitted impeachment!
Don't Ask Don't Tell. Very progressive! For America.

You can't keep it to 25 words, because he accomplished more than 25 words worth of feats during his presidency. These are the things I didn't even have to look up!

I don't know how you can mix Sex Scandals with economics.

What I liked about Clinton was the radio show talk host were a lot funnier back then. I can still hear ole Rush going... "he DOES wear boxers, hee, hee, hee, so the question is: does it hang to the LEFT or hee, hee, hee, does it hang to the RIGHT!!!!! HA, HA, HA!"

It's embarrasing and repetitious hearing EIB broadcast today. Too much apologizing.

After all, Reagan was our first (and I hope our last) divorced Prez. Reagan advocated something called "trickle-down" economics. Today, trickle-down has been largely discounted. Besides, only Dubya could run up the National Debt higher than Reagan did.

As for scandals... problem was, by Ronnie's 2nd term in office he didn't know where he was and we had a bunch of little people -- unelected little people-- running around doing big-time scandals. Same thing happened in the Lincoln administration. Must be a Republican thing.

If being AWOL from the Guard while watching the beach at Alabama is your idea of heroism, so be it. Give Dubya the Presidental Medal of Freedom. Give him a Purple Heart.

The current administration is embarked on a THEORY in its economic policy and it is called globilization. We have to hope and pray it works later for the 80% of Americans that do not realize direct benefits from globilization right now.

As an analogy, any succesful business run today requires confidence in the managers and CEO. I'm afraid what Clinton had in those qualities have never been demonstrated by the current Junta in office.

No, this answer is not 25 words or less. But your question begs for clarity, sumnation and brevity.

I don't know if I can answer all of what you ask in 25 words, in the first place the country was still in recession during Bush Sr. administration. What Clinton did was raise the taxes on the very rich undoing the harm that Reagan had done with his trickle down theory and he reinvested that money in infrastructure, this created good high paying jobs. These people in turn with money in their pocket spent. Creating more jobs and the whole thing snowballed into the greatest expansion in history. Every one that wanted to work could. This created more revenue for the federal government through more taxes and they were able to balance the budget which allowed to begin paying down the debt. It did not take George Bush long with his supply side economics to turn the country into a recession, this recession by the way is still going on in many parts of the country. Michigan being one of those.

You are so right about Clinton. However, I think you have set your sights high for the liberals that will answer this question, because they only know how to name call, and that's their answer to everything.

May I point out you left out that the threat of Osama bin Ladin was brought to Clinton's attention, but was ignored by him and his administration, which is why we are dealing with him now.

Keep up the good work.
