Especially in child predator cases. I don't get why they should have any rights. They weren't concerned with the rights of their victims. They are innocent children.

I am referring to children that are taken, raped and murdered.

I completely agree with you. It seems people are too afraid of 'crushing the criminal's human rights' but i say if they have commited a crime like attacking people then they have given up their rights as a human and should be punished with the full extent of the law.

This answer may seem a bit hypocritcal especially since I've posted concerns on this board about this very subject. I'm a person who has a vehemently venomous mindset about sexual predators, child molestors, pedophiliacs/murderers/abductors & child pornographers.

However concerning the laws of our land, they are set up to protect any person's rights until proven guilty. As vunerable as our judicial system appears to be; it actually is a blessing in disguise. I know a lot of people have been wrongly incarcerated & acquitted; but by far our laws protect the innocent.

As for child predator cases...the majority of those people are products of their crimes. Our system in a way is saying to them: "We are sorry you've had to suffer abuses when you were a child. But now you're an adult and you have to face the consequences of your actions." Meaning that's the leniency that we feel is afforded these criminals.

It's a catch 22 for sure. But it's all that we have to work with for now. Take this into account; what our system doesn't punish for, there is "honor among theives" ! Other criminals usually repay child abusers more harshly than our system EVER could dream up.

Peace Out.

Krism,
I am with you 100% on this one. I contract with Child Protective Services and you would not believe some of the INTENTIONAL Harassment I have seen being given to the victims by these LOW LIFE so called caseworkers whose education usually consists of no more than a HS diploma or GED and a 1Week CPS training. They seem to think this makes them a PHD,,well WAKE UP, because you don't realize the damage you are actually creating to not only the children, but to all involved. Don't get me wrong there are some that need that kick in the butt, but if you ask me its all one BIG POWER TRIP on their part. If your heart is not in it for the children. then GET THE HECK OUT OF THIS LINE OF WORK...You don't belong..these are peoples lives we are dealing with. THINK ABOUT IT!! Equinox, LBSW

As long as there are left wing liberals destroying the values of this nation then there will be no rights for the innocent. Where is the ACLU when it comes to these cases?
And People wonder why the right conservatives are all up and arms. The left woke them up, and it will be hard to quiet them again until justice is done.

How are you defining "criminal"? It's not clear whether you mean a person who is arrested as a suspect or someone who has already been fairly tried and convicted in court.

There are many cases where the police arrest someone because it is the most convenient and likely suspect in their minds even if it is not the real criminal.

On the other hand, if you mean someone who is rightly convicted of a crime, then their rights and freedoms should be severely limited depending on the nature of the crime.

You don't want me to get started on pedophiles. :((

During the heyday of liberalism, it was assumed that all criminals could be rehabilitated. This proved to not be the case, especially in the case of pedophiles and other sex offenders. Unfortunately, there are still a number of judges who subscribe to the myth of 100% rehabilitation. They are the source of much of the overemphasis on the rights of criminals as opposed to the rights of their victims.

yes and no! It's of course unfair that such a criminals can minimize their punishment and so on... BUT there is quiet many cases where innocent people where sentenced and even executed. And when I think about that i do think that accused need some rights although in those moments you want to sentence criminal as fast as possible.

well if there is any truth in life its man will go to far. Salem witch trials is one.

Just a few weeks back a guy got 20 years mandatory for child molesting. He almost hit a kid messing in the street, with his car. was so distraught he jumped out and grabbed her by the arm. She told the cops he grabbed her arm. bam molester, bam 20 years. and that's just a few weeks ago.

Though i don't understand people that are obvious slime getting off all the time for BS, like gay fear caused some guy to beat to death a gay person. What is that?

bottom line, Lawyers could careless about truth, and law. They just want to win. Same goes for the prosecution.

we are swinging to one extreme, 20 years from now it will be the other extreme, like the sixties again.. you know what that means?

Free love.. Ya baby!!

Well yes..... it is. That's b/c your innocent until proven guilty. You can't be suggesting that the legal system treats people w/ the same disregard that the criminals treat their victims are you?

Correct. There is historical precedent for it too, just read up on the fall of Rome. It was social decline, more than any outside fiscal or millitary pressure, that caused the decay and collapse of the Empire. Welcome to America. Don't get comfortable.
