Water is a compound. Alone it can not have a chemical equation until and unless there is a chemical reaction of it with some other elements or compounds. Although chemically it can be shown by its chemical formula as below:-
H2O
This chemical formula shows its chemical composition.

its called the molecular formula(or Chemical formula) for water and not the chemical equation... its H2O that means a water molecule is formed when 2 hydrogen atoms unite with 1 oxygen atom ! so we can write the chemical equation as
2H2+O2=2H2O

i think it had been asked the equation and not the formula
4H + O2 ---) 2 H2O
Hydrogen is monovalent and Oxygen has 2 valent electrons.
Thus, 2 times H2 = 4Hs, and 2 times O = 2Os. This means 4 molecules Hydrogen react with 1 molecule of Oxygen resulting to 2 molecules of Water.
I can´t explain it easier. Sorry, but i did my best and hope this helps.

yeah, it's H2O, but do you know what it stands for? Each molecule of water has two hydrogen atoms linked to one oxygen atom.
