There are labels used in these "discussions"...neocon and "right-wing" are used a lot, too. Not to mention the endless attachs on President Bush and Republicans.
I am not saying that Republicans or conservatives are saints, but I am saying that your question makes it seem as though the people on the left are innocent and the mean people on the other side are "labeling" them as "liberal".

There are two main stances in American political anything. Conservative and Liberal. Republicans are usually considered conservative, and democrats are usually liberal.
There for if you take political issues such as say the civil union of same sex partners, if you agreed with it and believe that they should be allowed to have the the same marriages rights as heterosexual marriges that thinking is considered liberal as most liberal or democrats would feel that way. Therefore one of a conservative mindset would say to you that's the liberal mindset.
On the other hand take the issue of Gun Control. If you beleive that one has the right to own their own your thinking would be considered conservative..

I agree, labels are effectual issues, yet basically you be attentive to if the label suits you or no longer. some labels are unfavourable on a similar time as different must be constructive. I discovered this at college. in case you elect added examining i prefer to advise finding for "labeling concept" , "recommendations of neutralizations" , "Gresham Sykes and David Matza"

Because "some people" think that the only way of thinking is their own. They are not open minded enough to understand that just because you might have a different view doesn't make you "liberal" in all things.

"Not liking or agreeing" with something doesn't necessarily make it "liberal" People use that word to describe a MINDSET-
"Blame America First" "Higher Taxes for Gov Programs" "Punish the Rich" are a few of the examples of a liberal mindset...

Perhaps it's because it is something that 'liberals' support and they don't like it.
Perhaps it's the same reason that "some people" label things that they don't like as "Neo-Con".

hard question .The reason I usually call something liberal is if it goes against common sense,or you have to be totally out of touch with reality.
This reflects my thoughts and thinking ,does not mean I am right .It is just my opinion
