More people have been killed daily in South Africa over the last 5 years, than have been been killed daily in the war between Lebanon and Israel.

Until the Government of South Africa can stabilize the crime rate and boost the economy so that poor people can have decent jobs and decent standard of living there is not much hope for S. Africa. I think it will become like the rest of African nations, poor hungry and full of strife. Too many leaders who do not look after their people and only after themselves

The future of the country is rosey because of the new generation of well educated young people coming into the main stream who are a far cry from the previous generation.Don't read too much into statistics as this does not reflect the people of that country as a whole. It is a country going through great changes and is in the process of rebirth, naturally during times like this there will be many who feel insecure and hence the reason for high crime.

As long as the goverment thinks more about the rights of the crimminal than the rights of the victim then we will have no resolve of the crim problem here. A woman who is raped is made out to be the wrongful arty, a murdered person asked for it, a child who was raped was the victim of tradition.
Too much crime and not enough hard measures to combat this!!
