i realize san fran can be a bit chilly throughout the year, but is there a time of the year when the temps are a little more warm? just wondering if theres a time of the year i can take advantage of catching some rays in half moon bay area..

It's friggin' HOT here in the SF Bay Area - high 80s, low 90s. I went to the Grand Lake Theater a few nights ago just to cool off.

And by the way, Mark Twain did NOT say that, MvE, and your quote's a little off - the word was supposed to be "coldest," not "longest" (see my source below).

The current heat wave is an aberrition (but fine with me, one of the few things I don't like about SF is the weather). The most reliable time to come and find heat is October. Out of my 20 plus years in the bay area, I can only think one time when it was in the 90s for a week or two in October.

The highest avg. temp. for Half Moon Bay is in September.

Mid to late September there is always a "heat wave" when it gets up into the 80's

I was there the first weekend in July, it was chilly! I needed mittens and a scarf at night. But I'm from south Texas.

wasn't the high 80 F yesterday? when 50 miles away in stockton it was 118 F?

I was there 3 weeks ago and it was mid 80's..Best I have ever seen there
