My theory is . . .
You work because you need money, otherwise you wouldn't be there so... I guess this goes back to the question How would be my perfect life?
Starting there, you will find how far/close you are from your dream, then you will go to my next question What do I need to get there (my perfect life)? and be caution here because it's looks like the circle has been close answering "money" so you need to work, but Not Really.
This last answer should be taking out of scope the money. So you must keep asking yourself about subjects not covered currently that takes you far from you perfect life.
Start covering the small ones and do all questions again after 6 months to see if you feel closer to your perfect life.
And finally see how much your perfect life depends on money and define an action plan. This is the hardest plan you have ever made.
As summary . . . keep working till you decide what to sacrifice from your perfect life or get rich soon so you can start imagine a NEW PERFECT LIFE.

Cheers.

There seems to be no point in working hard all your life, because others that don't work as hard still get by. I started working in 1958 when I was 16 and I am still working at 64 and and all I have to show for that 48 years is grey hair, no money in the bank, and no home of my own. Just like when I started, except for the grey hair.

to get stuff. you do work and in some how produces products or services people need. in return you get money. you can use this to get products and services you need.

There is not really a need to work hard all your life. If you invest some of your money to help produce things people need you will get a greater return on it. eventually you get to the point where your income from investments is more then enough to get what you need. At that point you can stop working and let your money work for you. I plan to do this at 42 currently. this may change with economic conditions and how some of my investments go.

I mean if you don't work and do things for people to get money why should they grow food for you or build you a house.

That is why Communism does not work. If you get what you need weather or not you work or have money why would anyone work. If no one works who will make what we need? Oh wait i know what happened in the USSR now.

There is a point to working hard in your life and that is to have a life. If you didn't work hard in life life most people wouldn't be proud of themselves. Working hard full fills a duty in someones life and gives them a sense of accomplishment. But working hard in life in the essence of life really has no meaning. As long as you work to keep living a decent life then your okay because everyone dies and then what?

You can enjoy the life only if you take it as a challenge, to be the best. Then hard work with brain and body is the only choice. We know that we have ultimately are suppose to loose it, but one has to live like human beings not as animals just fulfilling basic instincts.

We work to live-that's the point,at least for most of us. Those of us lucky enough to find work we enjoy get a good deal, for the rest
of us it's just a necessity. Now we just have jobs instead of hunting and gathering as in the prehistoric days, but it all comes down to the same thing.

Work smarter not harder. Does it matter if you put in 80 hours at Burger King one week when you can be a lawyer for 3 hours and make more. To accumulate wealth is the purpose. Be smart, you wont lose it.

I really wonder. Work itself is the reward of work. Not what might come at the end of the month. It is really hard to work with that attitude.
But truly, we do not know why or how we came into this world. But having come here we have no choice but to live ....and work keeps engaged.
Seers say, there is no one who works everything happens by itself.

Work just enough to live. Quality of life does not depend on what you physically have, but on how you feel within yourself. Are you content? I just quit my job to pursue my love of music. I'll be living on a shoestring budget, but I am happy. I hate waking up to an alarm clock, it's just not natural. For some tho work is what makes them tick...

Depends on the person. A person with money would say of course. For example a bitter person that worked for Enron might say H*LL NO!!
