Any friend or relative can throw a baby shower. I'm sure your sister isn't going to be into having a party for the next few weeks though. Usually the expectant Mom will register at a store or two like baby r us or target. What you could do is help make the phone calls to other friends and relatives to let them know the baby has arrived. They may ask what they can send as a gift to celebrate. Clothes are always helpful some other suggestions are diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, hooded towels, wash cloths. You can find a check off list at www.babycenter.com for more ideas.

Anyone can throw a baby shower. Usually it's done before the baby arrives so the new parents will have whatever they need before baby arrives. Is she registered anywhere? Find out what things they still don't have. A lot of the basics might be covered already if the baby is already here.

Typically the shower is held before the baby arrives to help the expectant mother prepare. I believe etiquette dictates that it be a friend, not a relative that hosts the shower, however, in this day and age, it's usually not an issue. If the parents are not registered, then get them what they need.... diapers, onesies, etc. or even better, ask.

My mom and my aunt threw me my first shower. And I know it is controversial to have a shower for baby number two but I am going to because (1) my daughter is still in her crib - I am furnishing a whole new nursery - and (2) I am having a boy this time.
Anyway, my mother and sister in-law are throwing me this baby shower.
My biggest need was diapers, but while many people give diapers as a gift they tend to forget much needed wipies!
And gift certificates for items I didn't anticipate needing. My daughter, for instance, was too small for 0-3 month clothes so we had to run out the day we were released from the hospital to buy preemie sizes - even though she wasn't a preemie.

Sisters, friends, mom and aunts. But baby showers are suppose to be done before the baby is born unless she didnt know what the sex of her baby was.

Anyone can give someone a baby shower. Having it after the baby is born is nice, everyone can meet the baby. Have her register at a baby store and you'll know exactly what they need.

the baby shower is usually before and anyone can hold it a sister, mother friend etc when i had my baby shower my cousin and my boyfriend organised it for me it was a surprise and it was wonerful but its no problem if she already had the baby you can still have it and it will be easier for people attending to buy gifts for the baby since they already know what it is and maybe the size too. usually you get the mother things she might need for the baby like blankets, jewellery, toys etc the possibilities are endless happy planning. ( i am currently planning one for my cousin )

It no longer matters. Anyone can do this. It's all about helping and celebrating the new life. You can also have men and women at the shower.
Get your sister what she needs and wants. Several can chip in on the expensive items, such as swing, play pen, etc.
