wherever you are, whoever you are, learn how to survive alone. hopefully, it will be just another bunch of useless information. but if you ever need that information, you won't have a chance to look it up.
you can avoid or run away from anyone else in the whole world, if nothing else, by retreating into yourself. but you cannot run away from you. be your own best friend, be true to yourself because at the end of the day, when the lights go out, you'll be stuck with your conscience....

The only things in life you get are things that you earn yourself
Don't grow up too fast
Don't say anything to anyone you might regret because you might not get the chance to appologize
Learn to forgive people even if they have hurt you
Don't assume you are going to get praise for doing well. Just continue to do well and your self-esteem will go up and you won't need the praise from other people because you already have it from yourself
