Ah, the extra 2 payments. If you get paid twice monthly, you get 24. This is great for planning. But if you get paid 'biweekly', that means every 2 weeks. There are 52 weeks, therefore 26 pay periods - 2 more than twice monthly every year.

Biweekly pay is however less than twice monthly. So, your answer is 26.

Biweekly means either every 2 weeks or twice a week (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/biweekly) but I'm assuming you mean every two weeks as I've never heard of a company that pays people twice a week.

There are normally 26 paydays per year when you get paid biweekly but if you get paid every 14 days it is possible to have 27 (26 x 14 = 364 and a year has 365 or 366 days), so if you got paid on January 1 (or January 2 of a leap year) and your employer does not shift paydays around because of holidays or anything it would be 27.

dj_madstove is not quite correct when he says a year has 365.25 days. No year has 365.25 days. Normally a 4 year period includes a leap day so that 4-year period averages 365.25 days per year but there are exceptions to the rule that every 4th year is a leap year (e.g. 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not leap years although 2000 is) so in the long-run even an average year is not exactly 365.25 days in length, but something slightly less than that.

So far I'm the only one with the right answer.
