I'll show you a weird way that I would figure it out. January 5, 1960, is on the same day as January 5, 1988. That's because in a 28-year period, there are 52 x 28 weeks, plus 28 extra days left over from each year (4 weeks), but 7 leap days (1 week), so it comes out even.
For some reason, I remember August 14, 1988, was a Sunday. (I was baptised that day.) This is the 227th day of a leap-year. Subtracting 224, (32 x 7) days puts January 3 as a Sunday as well, making the 5th a Tuesday. Thus, you were born on a Tuesday.
I confirmed this with Outlook's calendar, but I thought that I demonstrate that is can be done manually.
