99% of the time, the original is the best. That's how I see it. It really annoys me to have other singers try to redo a classic!

It all depends on how well the band or musician who's covering it does, and if they give it their own style successfully. For me? The Used and My Chemical Romance covered Under Pressure by Queen, featuring David Bowie, and I like the cover more than the original, even though I grew up with the original as one of my favorite songs. Because the quality of it was good, and they gave it their own musical signatures, while still showing that the original perfomers had influenced them.

Depends.... I love when newer punk remakes older punk from the 80's. like... Tainted Love by Marilyn Manson... Somebody's Baby by Phantom Planet....Blue Monday by Orgy.... And (my fav) Spin me Round by Dope. But I don't like remakes of the Beatles, or anything classic like that because they just usually end up butchering the original. Like when Stevie Ray Vaughn redid Taxman or when Shinedown redid Simple Man! Also one of my favorite remakes is Brick house... Originally done by Lionel Richie (commodores) then remade by Lionel Richie and Rob Zombie.

i don't mind covers, but i like when the new artist does something different with the song, not just a rehash of the original.

some of my favorite covers...

Cowboy Junkies version of "Sweet Jane" by Velvet Underground
Dynamite Hack's version of "Boyz in the Hood"
Phish's version of "Gin & Juice" is brilliant
