I have 2 ablino oscars. A male and female. I got them at the same time. They keep fighting. They didn't at first. Any ideas other than separation?

More decorations for them to hide in (and be hidden from each other by) might help a little. Other than separation though... not much. You might try getting a larger less aggressive fish for the middle of the tank, to scare them into the corners, but that idea is just as likely to make things worse.

once you purchase 2 Oscars, the prospect is against you in them getting alongside while they strengthen up. they'll combat in the event that they are an identical intercourse and despite in the event that they are male and lady this does not recommend they'll substitute right into a breeding pair. in case you certainly want a pair, you will choose to purchase a number of them (5-6) and strengthen them out until a pair varieties out of them, informed by using how they attempt to take over the tank at the same time and circulate after the the remainder of them. eliminate the remainders and the effect is a like minded pair which will nevertheless liplock and combat on party, yet hardly to the factor of injury. At this factor you somewhat have 2 techniques - do away with 1 and keep only one, or start up over and attain a pair from a team. In a 4 foot tank i'd keep on with only one, or circulate with a smaller species of fish.

I had two oscars too. I had to put them into seperate tanks but it didnt work because my fish were trained to jump out of stuff. So one day while i was at school, my female fish jumped out of her tank and died on the floor. Then later we put smaller fish in the males tank and they gave him a common fin diesiese. So we had to throw him out because he got stuck in a log inside the fish tank and he died. So if your oscars arent trained to do stuff, put them in seperate tanks.

Make them stand in the corner of the tank and think about what they are doing wrong.

Add a 3rd fish for them to attack!

Keep score for each of them and see who wins the attack contests!

you can get a mesh "tank sepporater" for like $20 at any pet store. that way, you only need to worry about one tank /slash/ there's no need to buy another one.

good luck!
