Several reasons:
The characters are well developed and have interesting stories. Each character is unique and their interactions with other characters provide for clever dialogue or conflicts.
The plot is intriguing. The thought that there might be a connection between the characters, or a higher power in charge provides a mystery for the viewers to solve and suspense as to what will happen next.
The show is well-produced. The location is great, the effects are good. The show makes it seem like this may actually be happening or that it's possible it could happen.

each to their own choce in tv shows i could ask why so many watch big bro???? its about as exciting as watching pain dry. everyone like different things personly i love LOSTand just watched the season 2 finale last night, cant wait till new season. its just something different than the usual run of the mill programs.

I dont know...i watched a few episodes and it was very confusing and seemed stupid and like they were just making stuff up as they went along
