His party needs the black vote?

They never HAD the black vote, and they're not getting it anytime soon.

This speech was an image thing for centrist voters, not a real attempt at garnering votes.

(btw, Kanye needs to stick with making music and stay the hell out of politics, along with every other celebrity)

Because at the expense of their core constiutency, the NAACP backs the bush plan while they already know in Hispanic areas black unemployment is 25% higher right now and growing.
