Let me explain. We the peoples have the power! If everyone could come to an agreement, and take a leave of absence for thirty days from there jobs or work from home; just walk, or bike to you destinations. Stock up on supplies for a thirty day plan. I think we could shut these "big bad bast@*%'s" down and lower fuel costs and remind them who is the real boss~"WE THE PEOPLE", you heard it first from Motherpeanutbutterbutinsky!Let's set the date:
any and alll idea welcome, let's solve the fuel price crisis at yahoo!

Much better to boycott the worst offenders permanently. Don't buy Exxon gas, ever again. The company is scum. They gave their neo-criminal CEO a $400M retirement package, while you & I pay $3 a gallon.
Vote with your $$$.

So much ignorance. Do you all really think boycotting gas stations would lower gas prices? Make the "evil corporations" hear you? Please!
I have several friends who own gas stations as family businesses and if you think you're hurting from gas prices, talk to an owner. They make very little from the gas they sell in the first place and to boycott them for a month could seriously put many out of business. Most money they make is selling concessions to people that come in to pay for their gas, they are already selling it as cheap as they can and still get by. Why not organize your little rally to do something that will actually help the problem, rally up all these people and encourage LESS fuel use, lower your dependence on gas. Not that it would ever happen but it would be a real shame if enough idiots gathered together and hurt the people who are already hurting the most from gas prices, the station owners. There is a difference in a democracy and putting honest hard working people out of business.

Well it's nice to see you have an open mind when it comes to understanding where this problem is originating (yeah like that happened) easy to blame companies or corporations isn't it but think about this for just a few seconds the prices didn't rise until after major military operations started in many countries at the same time not just one military but dozens of them. now domestically people are saying it can't be that there are so many more drivers or cars being used they are right . But anybody got an idea how much fuel a military in the Field consumes now remember there are dozens out there and they gotta buy fuel just like we do. (*** gas or grass no one rides for free) so now how do you think your boycott is going to effect the oil companies. You know sometimes logical reasonable thought is the way to learn. Blind protests without the research is like having Helen Keller sing the Star Spangled Banner AT THE ALL STAR GAME. WE the people My a** (you mean we the uninformed and and ranting mob) How dare you take those words so lightly! Get an education try again when you learn something. Reaper is out!

Human have this difficulties to cooperate in mass. It always end up someone in the group give up or kept himself/herself away on the day the event is carried out.
We don't look at people in a mass as what you suggest. Take an example in a factory of 100 people, it's people power. When the actual date to boycott, you will notice less people will come forward.
The only human race I have witness that can cooperate together as one big family are the Muslim.
When you suggest boycotting gas station, some driver will say that if you cannot afford fuel, don't drive, sell off your car and take the bus or walk if you insist. It will not bother them because they need the mobility.

*** 30-day boycott 'cos fuel costs $3.00 a gallon in USA ***
How long do you suggest for a boycott in London, UK - where we pay $9.30 a gallon? We pay £5 a gallon (current exchange rate is $1.86 to the £1.00 = $9.30).
Two years ago we paid £4.75 a gallon (the rate then was $1.50 to the £1.00 = $7.12).
In reality our fuel costs have risen by 25 pence or 5% over a two-year period which matches our annual rate of inflation at 2.5%. But if I was being paid in dollars then I would need an extra $1.18 or 13.7% to buy that same gallon of fuel.
Figures are boring I know, but anyone in the States reading this would be more likely to support your 30-day boycott - and I wouldn't worry too much about George W. supporters, even though this isn't joined-up-writing, they probably couldn't read it anyway!
(Can I go back to sleep now?).

I agree with you as a matter of fact I just told my husband the same thing last month. A month is too long I would go for a week or a couple of days because that would hurt them as well, but the main problem is getting people to cooperate and maybe we could do just cars and trucks not city buses or over the road trucks. I think that would make a huge difference.
I know where you are coming from

You sound like an idealist with little touch of reality. Most folks I know commute at least 20 miles one way to work. And many are too old and not in shape to ride a bicycle that far. There are no bus services or train services for many folks. The problem is we are too gas hungry a society. We need to DECREASE our demand, since the supply is also going to be decreasing in the coming years.

As long as I can fill up my gas tank first, I'm all for it... I can make a tank of gas last a month, but it is way to hot to walk, bike or grow wings and fly to work....and a 30 day absence isn't feasible either for those of us who have bills to pay and jobs that require staff to care for the infirm. You also need to consider staff at prisons, jail, etc.. My husband is a police officer, would you also expect all of them to "walk"? Not gonna stop a lot of crime there.. I agree we need a solution, but I don't think a boycott is it.

Hey Peanut head.......
I work in the oil industry ,, trying to find you some here in America so you will not have to depend on the oil overseas....
Why dont you give up one of those Many vehicals you and everyone else are driving,,,, it would lower the consumption of the gasoline tremendously.......
Also,, why dont you get the States of California and Florida to let us drill for Oil and Gas there...........if found,, it could help lower the cost of oil here.......(the more found here,,,, we dont have to buy from over there).......
Also,, the Natl Wildlife Preserve in Alaska...... let me tell you ... i have been there,,,,,,,, there are NO mountains around for 200 miles,,,, it is just Tundra.... and all those critters that live there.....over in Prudhoe Bay...... there are the same ones and they arent bothered at all........
Dont believe what all those scum sucking liberal tree hugging people want you to ..........
Good luck

Yes you have a good idea but unfortunately it won't work ,because the American public won't co-operate. It's been tried before but people just won't listen and participate. We can't even get people to stop buying gas on Sunday here in Georgia. But if we could just not buy gas on Sundays that would cause demand to go down and force a lowering of prices. But people are absolute idiots they just won't listen. They will still buy gas on Sundays for their boats and I've asked them to just fill up on Saturdays and get enough to last them until Monday but again they are stubborn. They won't allow anything to interfere with their fishing.
