I think its a combination of the other senses and instinct. Blind people's senses are more acute and more than make up for their blindness. As for instinct I think that also becomes more acute and probably even takes on a new and advanced role to function better to cater to that person's blindness. All in all I think your body and its brain capacity changes to accomodate a person's blindness.

the blind have all sorts of tools maybe by chance there is a tool for that kind of thing. If there isn't then you could probably find something in those magazines that have stupid tool oh wait they can't see to read those stupid tool books so I guess there just plain screwed. lol that one is funny

they wipe real good then call there seeing eye dog and if he sees or smells anythin he barks 2 times
