I've taken a subject for my graduation & now i'm so tired of doing it & i've completely lost interest in it and in the first place, i never loved it & unfortunately there's no escape from it for almost a year. How can i make my studies interesting?Though i attend lectures i'm not able to motivate myself to sit down & learn for the exams.Even though i'm intelligent 'coz of my loss of interest i'm not getting good grades. What can i do?

i remembered when i have to finished my 'statistical studies'. it's really similar to your problem. you know, i tried to find somebody to discuss as long as it can be. in my philosophy: 'i have to finish waht i have started'. thank God, i finished it. and the 'sombody' i asked to discuss is became my wife. that is really nice. you could try.

When attraction is forced, it warps the individual. Period. I assume you've already discussed the problem with as many others as you can find whose opinions you respect, and still haven't been given enough not-so-obvious reasons why the subject is important to you in the direction you ARE going. I'd discuss this with the powers-that-be, and see if I can negotiate breezing by in this course with minimum effort if I can simultaneously prove that I'm being diligent in studies in the direction I AM going in.

Alternatively, go back to what got you into the subject in the first place...which likely had something to do with fear or dread of some kind. If the fear/dread is still valid, perhaps nurturing that feeling can act as a negative motivator.

This is the kind of dilemma I've seen drive a lot of students to excesses of drink and other vices to which they wouldn't likely otherwise have resorted. Careful of being warped, friend...this COULD be little more than just a costly learning experience.

It sounds as if your instructor does not have the knack of making the subject interesting to his/her students. Can you find someone else who is an expert on your subject you are studying? Someone who feels passionate about a topic could deepen your own interest. Don't give up. Try to immerse yourself in this work until you find a 'hook' that helps you get caught up in it. You can also speak with your teacher and honestly say you are having trouble caring about this subject. Ask: "Can you help me understand why this deserves to be studied?"

If you never liked this subject, and studying it hasn't changed that, then change.

Don't force yourself into something you don't care about or find interesting. You'll either be stuck with something you'll grow to hate, for the rest of your life, or you'll dump it when you can't stand it anymore.

Find something you love.

You have only one life. Don't spend it being miserable.
