yes, they should be able to tell by taking measurements of the baby during the ultrasound, how far along in development the baby is ... I know that they use this method to find a due date for women who are not sure when they became pregnant

If they did an ultrasound and could tell it was a girl...then they could definitely tell how far along she is. When I got pregnant I didn't know exactly how far along I was because I go months without a period. Based on my last period I would have twice as far a long as I was (it doesn't always work to do the math based on your last period). They did an u/s about 3 weeks after my positive home pregnancy test and I was ten weeks at that point. So they can tell pretty early how far along you are when they do an ultrasound. Call and see what the ultrasound that told you it was girl said as far as how many weeks the baby was measuring. Congrats!

The measurements of the baby, the organs, etc. will give you an approximate age of the baby plus or minus a week or so.
My doctor needed to do 3 ultrasounds to check on some concerns (which turned out to be nothing :o)
The first one, the baby measured a week and a half less than my weeks of pregnancy, the second one the baby measured a week over, and the final one the baby was right on target!
So don't treat the calculation as an exact science, but it will give you an approximation within two weeks or so (plus or minus one on either side of the due date).

when she went to the doctor when she found out she was pregnant the doctor should of worked it out for you then, or your midwife when they come before birth to check on the mother and baby are fine, if you are unsure ask your doctor or when your midwife comes round to see you again tell her you are not sure how far gone she is, tell your daughter to have the dates of her last period so the nurse can work it out for you, she must be pretty far gone if you know the sex of the baby, wish you and your daughter good luck through the birth and after.
