I don't know about better. Definitely not worse, though could have lost the last ten minutes. LOVED the whole thing with the water wheel. That and Johnny Depp. Am I the only person who thinks that Keira Knightly shouldn't have to be paid to kiss Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom? I would have done it for free

Opinion questions hmm... I thought they were about equal, however I think kiera knightly did a better job in this one. The sequel definitely held my interest and had more action I felt. So on second thought yeah I thought it was better. After seeing the end I think they should name the third one "Pirates of the Carribean: WE'RE GONNA MAKE SOME MONAAAAY OFF THIS FILM!"

No. Pirates of the carribean: dead man's chest is the same tricks taken to improbable levels and added in long drawn out plot without completing the story in a resolution of any kind to the delima except to have a complete twist of events. So we are left wasnting a resolution to the climax for another year.

Not really, the first one was more fun, in my opinion. It was a good movie, that took you along with it.

The second dragged on, and several scenes that kinda dragged on and on, like the three way sword fight. It started out funny, but after a few minutes, I just wanted it to end.

Major props for the Kraken, though. That was very, very cool. Possibly as cool as Cap't Jack. I don't know, I'm going to have the watch the third movie to find out.

Although some better scenes, it was about 30 minutes too long and had some hard plot complications that were tought to follow at times

Definitely. That's what everyone else is saying too. Even the critics say it's better than The Curse of the Black Pearl.

The fight scenes are definitely better. That 1 long one made me think "what the @#$% are they going to do next?

Didn't like the first one... and I don't plan of funding any of the actor's bank accounts on my dime, so I won't be watching the second one...

I think it's equal.
In one way the first is superior. It is a complete stand-alone movie.
Other than that, they are equal.
