Maybe because they have some things they need to take with them over the course of the day and don't feel like wadding them all up and stuffing them in their pockets and sitting on them??
I have never understood why society feels it's OK for women to carry around a bag of things while men are expected to stuff it in their pockets. I know some very manly men, like my dad, who carry bags with things in them...in his case it's usually a water bottle and a book or two. We've allowed them briefcases & backpacks over the years, so I don't see the problem with a manly-looking bag!

Probably it has something to do with the declining value of the dollar. In Uzbekistan it's because the money isn't worth anything. They have to carry suitcases of it around to buy anything. The same will be true here too. They're just practicing for when that day comes.

I personally don't carry one (honest), but in France a driver has to carry all the documents for the car, if not he or she will get fined, and you don't want to leave them in the car, so hence the reason for carrying thes puffy bags...if you lose the said documents it is a big problem trying to get a new set...

they want to look like us women...just cuz the purses look sexy with us...doesn't mean it will for men...for men it just makes them look more gay. Unless they are carrieing their girlfriends bags thats a different story...other than that...and they have a purse or something damn close to it...well...then....their gay FOR SURE!! He can make up an excuse saying its his girls...or moms bag....and you see them with that same bag all the time or with a new one and they have one all the time...their gay...sorry...but its just wrong.
But then again, if its for a different use...like carying stuff in it and not into their pockets...not bad...
but if a man has a purse...its gross...a hand bag thats a guys...well who cares they need it to carry something.

My boyfriend carrys a messenger bag when he rides his motorcycle to work. And sometimes when he has a lot of stuff to carry he'll take it out to other places, but he always leaves it in his car.

I assume they need to carry their belongings. For example an office worker may carry his files, someone going to the gym may carry their gym clothes and towel, a man who is shopping may want to put what he buys in his bag.
Bags are practical, why shouldn't men carry them?

Yes, they are gay, or metrosexual. I wouldn't be seen dead with a manbag. If I have to carry a bag, it's a rucksack/backpack.
